For My Superman

Six short years ago I became a mother.  It is hard to believe how things can change in that amount of time.

Today, my firstborn read a book to me.  It was one of the sweetest sounds that I can recall.  I look at him and no longer see a baby or even a little boy.  He is growing and changing every single day.  I can’t keep up and I run along beside him trying to enjoy it, yet hoping he will slow down just a little bit.  The new achievements are so exciting and fresh, but it all goes so fast that you barely have time to soak it in before the next thing is here.

My future man is an old soul.  He is kind and sensitive and so aware of others’ feelings.  He might not always let you in on that secret, but he is watching and listening and thinking of ways he can help you when you are down.

He is a fantastic big brother.  All the kids adore him.  His sense of humor keeps them in stitches and he can bring down the house with his jokes and silly stories.

He is careful not to exclude anyone from playtime.  Sometimes he is quite shy and not sure how to approach a new friend, but he is kind and thoughtful and has such a big heart.

He recently has taken such an interest in babies, which I tell him is too bad since those days are done. ;)   Ok, I don’t say it quite like that, but c’mon, he had his own litter to choose from at one time but simply didn’t appreciate it – being 3 and all.

He got a bike without any training wheels for his birthday.  I think it makes him nervous.  If we could skip the process of learning to ride it and jump ahead to mastery, that would be great…or would it?

He swims like a fish – always  has.

He loves to sing and listen to music.  He will put on my Ipod and walk around singing “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash.  He also love “We Will Rock You” by Queen.  His father played that one for him.

He loves soccer and baseball and just plain ole moving.  He really should be a gymnast the way he can twist and bend.  It’s insane.

He’s so precious to me and now he’s 6.

Happy Birthday G!

(This is our song…ignore the apparent X-Files storyline…)
