Back to School

Tonight was G’s Open House at school.  Eeek!  I am so excited for him I’m about to pop.  I think he was a tad nervous and shadowed me a bit, which is unusual for him.  There is only 1 boy in his class!!!!!  Eleven kids total, so I am praying that one more boy will join the group.  He gets along great with girls, so I’m not worried about that, but I really wanted him to meet some other boys.

His teacher seems very nice.  A little quiet, but I was like that when I taught.  Crazy for the kids, but reserved around the adults.  I suppose I was trying to make them think I was mature.  She asked me some general questions about his abilities and behavior.  I gave her fair warning that he can get revved up, but honestly, all the teachers he has ever had have said he’s always fine in class (Sunday school and pre-k).  Honestly, he will most likely behave well for her and then be a pill on the 2 homeschool days he has with me.

So, after we had a little snack and met some of the other families, oh and signed up for all sorts of volunteer stuff (I am in charge of the Christmas craft – big doin’s) we headed home.  He told daddy all about it and I sent him to bed and got straight to work doing what every normal mom does before school starts.  I got out my label maker and went crazy marking all of his school supplies.  Oooh, it was fun.  Even more fun will be labeling things around the house for the hubby to find…

  • Yeah! Sounds like fun! He’ll be the ladies man!

  • I love back to school. Like you, I can see myself with that labelling pen getting so excited for my child. I have so many fond memories of school.

Hope your hubby got a giggle (do men giggle) at your labels around the house.

  • Isn’t it funny how excited we get over school supplies? What is it about them? Oh and I was totally that teacher, too. Very quiet and cool around the parents, but a cut-up when the classroom door closed. I hope G has a great school experience this year.

  • You are such a good mommy :)

  • I am glad G’s open day went so well. I get excited about school stuff as well, but was rather disappointed to find that my kids don’t bring home all their new school exercise books for me to go contact crazy on lol

I was over the moon when my daughter finally bought home a homework book this year, and I made her ask her teacher if Mummy can put contact on it haha I’m so sad!

Hope G has a wonderful time at school!

  • heeeeheeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! I’m gonna need to get me a label maker!!
