My oldest 3 kiddos just completed their first set of swim lessons. G was already swimming really well, but I wanted him to get the stroke instruction as well as the water safety lessons and I knew it couldn’t hurt.
The twins? Well, let’s just say they will be taking a couple more rounds at some point. It must be a personality thing. My boys are both huge water bugs (must take after me!) and have always been fearless and excited around water. They both put their heads under and jumped off the side of the pool as early as 18 months. Poor girls. They started out fairly fearful and while that has significantly diminshed, they aren’t all that motivated to actually swim.
At the lessons, the instructors would do things like have them place their head on their shoulder and pull them around while the “swimmer” practiced kicking and getting familiar with being on their back. I think my twins thought of it more as a free ride. Not sure if they just don’t have the coordination or if it’s simply a lack of interest. They did however thoroughly enjoy themselves and played tricks on the instructors, pretending to be one another. Yes, at not quite 4 years of age.
Today they received a certificate of completion and they were beaming with pride. Too cute!
Here are a few pics. It was an indoor pool with bad florescent lighting, so forgive the poor quality. I took all of these from the upper viewing deck, so some weird angles.

So cute!
It won’t shock you that Max has *no* fear of water. I’m glad he is comfortable of course, but a little fear and respect is a good thing.

That’s awesome! They look so cute and too gown up paddling around the water like that.
