Modern Day Inconveniences

Last Christmas my Hubby bought me a Roomba for half price.  You may think that I am about to rant about his poor gift choice, however, let me assure you that that bad boy was one superfly present.  Granted, I do think they need to improve upon it a bit and make a heavy duty version (because we can make one heck of a mess here) but overall it’s like having a dog without the extra hair to clean up.  It zips under the table and has a four course meal in no time, along with whatever else it finds along the way.

Just last night I remembered that it was hiding behind a chair where I had stashed it when company was coming over.  I got my faithful friend out and hit the appropriate buttons, but after about 30 seconds of stumbling around, it headed back to it’s docking station.  Hmmmm.  I checked to see if it needed to be emptied and tried again.  Nope.  Still on strike.  My kids claimed it was tired and needed a nap.  Which reminds me…I wonder if we could create children with docking stations and power cords?  Wouldn’t THAT be nice? :)

Anyhoo, I finally had to lug out the regular vacuum because apparently the Roomba’s union is in some sort of negotiation and nothing looks like it’s going to be settled anytime soon.  That is, until the Hubby straps on his manly man tool belt and attempts to fix it.

Oh and the ice maker is on the fritz too.  My world is spiraling out of control as I speak.

  • I love, love, love my Scooba.

  • I LOVE my roomba!!! You have to use it regularly though. It doesn’t work to just get it out for company (I use the regular vac for that too). But every morning I wash the kitchen table, put the chairs on top of the table upside-down, and run the Roomba while I run my errands. It has cut down on dust around here a LOT!

And this is NOT to say that I think I’ve got this house-wife thing under control. In fact, I just wrote a blog about my junk drawer and my inability to cope with it!!

But I love my Roomba. We’ve had 3. The first was named Steve by the kids, the second was Mr. French and the third was named Giselle by my husband (he’s thinking French maid?). This last one seems to have lasted longer – figures a girl can clean longer than the boys did!
