I feel dirty. I had dinner with Brittney Spears. Not the real one, but a real live clone and it wasn’t pretty.
Without revealing too many details for fear of my real life friends and acquaintances reading this post, I will just say that hubby and I went to dinner and this person was there.
She walked in and I was in shock. Every other person in the group was wearing jeans, slacks, t-shirts, sweaters – you know, just normal clothes you would wear to dinner with friends. Brittney was wearing this (except showing more skin) with skin tight jeans and big stripper shoes. I kept waiting for her to flash her crotch at me.
So, despite my first impression. I made an attempt to speak to her. I had heard her mention having children, so decided to use that as a jumping off point. Somehow she ignored the subject and we talked about her favorite party spots and how she is such a cool boss for her sitter because she understands what it’s like to party all the time. I think we also discussed nails, roots, fake boobs, men, massage, tanning and some other subjects that I don’t really remember. Now, I know this is coming off as judgy judgy, but considering WHERE we were and the company we were in, she was simply inappropriate.
The saddest part was that this was not “mom’s night out” where she lets her hair down, then returns home as a loving and capable mother. According to my sources, my own interaction with her and her own anecdotes, she much prefers to leave things to the sitter. I suppose she can’t be bothered with snotty nosed children. They just get in the way of her fun.
Wonder why she had 3 of them?
I’m all for being supportive of other moms…when they actually give a hoot about their kids. Everyone has different styles, ideas, philosophies on how to raise their kids, but when you are just too wrapped up in yourself to give your kids the time, love and devotion they deserve, well, that gets my hackles up.
Hopefully this Britney wannabe will wake up and smell the coffee before it’s too late.

I second that – in a BIG way. I’m not being judgy judgy either, just with that God given mother intuition, you wanna slap someone like that to reality.

YIKES! I’m not sure I would have handled it so well. Good for you for making an effort – but I can see how that would be completely offensive.

What really burns me up about this sort of thing, is that there are people out there who would be very loving and attentive parents, and they can not have children for one reason or another. It makes me so sad to see women like that who were not ready to put a child’s needs and general well-being before their own selfish desires! It has become too easy to just have the baby for show and then continue on your way as if their isn’t another human being to be responsible for! And then we wonder why the world is the way it is! So very frustrating!
